About the Long Island MasterworksFounded in 1990, Long Island Masterworks is a nonprofit organization that presents concerts of choral music at the highest level with professional orchestral accompaniment. Our concerts and events have been featured in Newsday and The New York Times. We draw our members from Nassau and Suffolk Counties, from the North Shore to the South Shore and everywhere in between. In addition to our regular concerts, the Long Island Masterworks also sponsors the annual Straney Award Competition, drawing aspiring professional singers from around the country.
